Community Events

St. Vrain Community Montessori School prides itself on fostering and growing a collaborative and supportive relationship with families and with the surrounding community.

Throughout the year, we sponsor a number of school events to extend our reach beyond the school day and involve the whole family in the school community.

Here’s a small sampling of our annual events*:

Middle School students sell apples and apple-related products at a community event, likely Farm Stand or Fall Festival

Dr. Montessori’s Birthday & Back-to-School Ice Cream Social

This back-to-school ice cream social celebrates the August 31 birthday of Dr. Maria Montessori. Students create birthday cards to Dr. Montessori, and new and returning families have an opportunity to celebrate the start of another school year!

Fall Festival

Each fall, SVCMS gathers for old-fashioned games, crafts, and fall-themed activities at the Grove, our school community space. The annual Fall Festival is organized by our Parent Volunteer Organization (PVO), and snacks and activities are provided by generous school community members.

Earth Day Celebration

This community-organized event brings the school together to collaborate on simple environmental projects and to celebrate our planet Earth. Students focus daily on classroom environmental projects, including recycling and composting classroom materials, and this annual festival is a wonderful way for students to celebrate their accomplishments

Silent Auction

The Annual Silent Auction is our biggest social event of the school year for parents and also our most successful fundraiser.

Each year, many donations from parents and businesses throughout the community are offered through an online auction in the weeks leading up to the event.

Friends and family bid on auction items with a “Buy-It-Now” option.

In addition to silent auction items at the event, we have a live auction with a professional auctioneer.

The highlights of the live auction are the one-of-a-kind auction items created by the students in each individual classroom. These beautiful group projects create healthy competition among parents to see who will take home these unique creations.

Moving-Up Ceremony

The moving-up ceremony at the end of each school year is our opportunity to celebrate students as they complete their three-year work cycle and move up to a new level within the school community.

Ceremonies are held for kindergarteners, third years, and sixth years, during which they cross the bridge from their current level to the next.

This moving event gives Guides a chance to share special memories of each student moving up, and gives families a chance to celebrate this important milestone.

End-of-Year Picnic

The end-of-year picnic is a wonderful opportunity to close the academic year, celebrate the commencement of another school year, and enjoy being with our friends prior to summer. Families provide their own dinners and the school donates a delicious dessert or two to kick-off summer vacation.
