Board of Directors

 

The St. Vrain Community Montessori School Board of Directors is the governing body of the school. The Board is responsible for fulfilling the legal obligations of the school, providing oversight for school management, and ensuring that the school’s mission is executed fully.

 

The Board is autonomous from the St. Vrain Valley School District (SVVSD) Board of Education.

 

As the legal entity charged with school governance, the SVCMS Board is responsible for serving the public interest. It abides by district policies and state and federal laws, rules, and regulations, unless specifically waived.

 

Board Roles & Responsibilities

The SVCMS Board operates as a policy-setting body in according with the SVCMS bylaws. The SVCMS Board’s primary responsibilities are the following:

  • Determine the school’s mission and purpose.

  • Establish all school policies in accordance with the school’s mission, goals, and educational programs.

  • Select and evaluate the Head of School.

  • Provide proper financial oversight and assist in developing the annual budget.

  • Ensure adequate resources are provided for the organization to fulfill its mission.

  • Ensure legal and ethical integrity and maintain accountability.

  • Provide final oversight accountability for the school’s academic success, organizational viability, and faithfulness to the terms of the contract.

  • Recruit and orient new Board members and assess Board performance.

 

The SVCMS Board is composed of five to seven directors. Appointments to the Board are made by the Board itself.

 

The Head of School and an SVCMS Guide Representative serve on the Board in advisory, non-voting capacities. Details about Board appointments are set forth in the organizational bylaws.

 

Board meetings are open to the public. SVCMS families and interested community members are always welcome and are encouraged to attend.
