The Role of the SVCMS Board of Directors The SVCMS Board of Directors (SVCMS Board) is responsible for fulfilling the legal obligations of the school, providing oversight for school management and ensuring the school’s mission is executed fully. The SVCMS Board is autonomous from the St. Vrain Valley School District (SVVSD) Board of Education. As the legal entity charged with school governance, the SVCMS Board is responsible to serve the public interest. It abides by district policies and state and federal laws, rules and regulations, unless specifically waived. The SVCMS Board operates as a policy setting board in accordance with the SVCMS Bylaws. The SVCMS Board’s primary responsibilities are the following:
The SVCMS Board is comprised of a total of seven to eleven directors. Appointments to the Board are made by the Board itself and SVCMS families. The Head of School and an SVCMS guide representative each serve in advisory, non-voting capacities. Details about Board appointments are set forth in the organizational bylaws.
