The SVCMS Board of Directors (SVCMS Board) is responsible for fulfilling the legal obligations of the school, providing oversight for school management and ensuring the school’s mission is executed fully. The SVCMS Board is autonomous from the St. Vrain Valley School District (SVVSD) Board of Education.

As the legal entity charged with school governance, the SVCMS Board is responsible to serve the public interest. It abides by district policies and state and federal laws, rules and regulations, unless specifically waived.

The SVCMS Board operates as a policy setting board in accordance with the SVCMS Bylaws. The SVCMS Board’s primary responsibilities are the following:

1. Determine the school’s mission and purpose.
2. Determine all school policies in accordance with the school’s mission, goals and educational program.
3. Select and evaluate the Head of School.
4. Provide proper financial oversight and assist in developing the annual budget.
5. Ensure adequate resources are provided for the organization to fulfill its mission.
6. Ensure legal and ethical integrity and maintain accountability.
7. Be responsible for final accountability for the school’s academic success, organizational viability and faithfulness to the terms of the contract.
8. Recruit and orient new board members and assess board performance.

The SVCMS Board is comprised of a total of seven to eleven directors. Appointments to the Board are made by the Board itself and SVCMS families. The Head of School and an SVCMS guide representative each serve in advisory, non-voting capacities. Details about Board appointments are set forth in the organizational bylaws.
